The shield is composed of two concave rectangular sheets held at a small distance from each other by six spacers and screws.
The front sheet is highly polished and bears a Hebrew inscription. The backside of the front sheet is gold plated. The back sheet is matte finished on the front side. The shield has a black synthetic string to hang the shield from the Torah-scroll handles.
The reflection of the gold on the matte finish of the back plate radiates a warm soft glow
through the cut-out text.
